construction & care

  • Teak Construction: teak is a dense, coarse, close-grained hardwood that contains high levels of resinous oils, making it naturally resistant to moisture, repellent to insects and virtually impervious to the drying effects of the elements; silica, a sand-like substance naturally found in teak, adds superior resistance to fungal decay, water rot, warping, shrinking and swelling; left untreated, teak will develop a silvery patina over time, regular application of a teak sealer will preserve its original finish; all of our teak is sustainably harvested from responsibly managed teak plantations

  • Teak Care: if left outside to age naturally and exposed to the elements, teak will develop a soft, silvery-gray patina over time as the surface pigments fade away, as the color changes, the strength and durability of the teak is not affected; maintaining the golden-brown color of new teak will require regular application and re-application of a teak sealer (we recommend teak sealer because it lasts longer than teak oil); if your furniture will not be used for an extended period of time, we recommend covering with Frontgate furniture covers or storing indoors; if storing indoors, avoid moving teak directly to a hearted room as the sharp difference in temperature and humidity could cause the wood to split; teak can be cleaned with a hose; stains can be removed with fine-grit sandpaper

  • Wicker Construction: our all-weather resin wicker is made from 100% high-density polyethylene (HDPE); this durable fiber is nontoxic, antimicrobial, and can endure extreme temperatures, from -94° F to 176° F, making it ideal for virtually all climates

  • Wicker Care: to clean, simply wipe clean with a mild detergent; avoid direct contact with chlorine and saltwater; if your wicker furniture is placed near saltwater, we recommend rinsing weekly with water from your garden hose; avoid close proximity to open flame and artificial heat sources; if your furniture will be unused and exposed to direct sunlight for an extended time, we suggest covering with Frontgate furniture covers;

  • Cushion Construction: high-density, high-resiliency polyurethane foam provides years of consistent support without sagging; woven hydrophobic wrap repels moisture and helps prevent water from entering foam; 100% solution dyed covers are antimicrobial, mildew resistant, and easy to clean

  • Cushion Care: after extended or heavy rain, stand cushions on end, with the zipper or seam side down, to drain water and speed drying; clean spills and stains with one cup of chlorine bleach diluted in one gallon of water, testing for colorfastness before cleaning entire surface
