Looking to get more out of your outdoor space? We asked Denise, one of our design experts, to show how two different patio sizes could be styled using both standard furniture and small-space furniture.
First, she sketched out two approaches for an 8′ x 10′ patio. A loveseat and two lounge chairs from our standard Vista Collection would be a tight fit. Alternately, using Small Space Vista modular seating, the patio could accommodate an additional seat as well as more planters, accessories and even a bar cart.
When you’re maximizing a smaller space, those additional pieces add versatility. Accent stools can function as a side table. Stools, ottomans and outdoor poufs also double as occasional seating that can be easily moved around when needed.
Also, consider multipurpose storage pieces, such as our Tapered Wicker Storage Bench – with an optional cushion for seating – and our series of Harper Wicker Storage Tables. Nesting tables also provide additional surface areas that can be tucked away when not in use.
Even in a larger setting, small space furniture can be used to free up space for additional pieces. Denise drew up two blueprints for a 11′ x 20′ patio, first pairing a standard Vista sofa and loveseat with a bistro dining set. Her second sketch, utilizing a Small Space Vista modular sectional and lounge chairs, allowed room for two more guests in both the seating and dining spaces, plus a slightly larger bistro table. The second arrangement utilized Harper tables to substitute for larger coffee or side tables. A bar cart also fit in both designs.
