If you spend any time on social media, then you’ve probably come across the classic and colorful work of noted photographer and design visionary Gray Malin. His work is driven by the desire to make art that’s approachable, with subject matter that brings people together – capturing moments you want to jump into the frame and join. So, when we heard he was embarking on his first holiday in his new home, we jumped at the chance to be a part of the magic.
Growing up, Gray loved the tradition of hanging seasonal wall art for the holidays. This year, he’s excited to take on the tradition himself. “As a fine art photographer, I am honored to have been the first to capture the iconic Rockefeller Center Christmas tree for all of us to enjoy at home,” Malin says. “The gold in the photograph pairs beautifully with all the gold accessories from Frontgate.” He loves the way Lunares Gold Feather Dinnerware complements the bar cart and reindeer in the dining room. “The room sparkles from top to bottom!” he says.
With art acting as the key inspiration and influence for his holiday aesthetic, Gray notes that the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree print and his new series, Gray Malin at the Beverly Hills Hotel, were both key elements to achieving a room with a glamorous, yet welcoming feel. “Considering metallic shades often play a big part in holiday decorating, the art combined perfectly with the tablescape, as well as the gold sprays we spontaneously incorporated into the Grand Fraser Slim Profile Tree,” Malin says.
Using his keen interior design sensibility, Gray was able to create spaces throughout his home that could easily transition into a season-less design post-holiday. “I love that the bar cart and accessories have a chic, art deco aesthetic, especially when paired with the Beverly Hills Hotel framed print,” he says. Meanwhile, we’re loving how the Ming Vases pop against the lit garland on the mantle but will look just as amazing when the season is over. (Talk about a gift that keeps on giving!)
And while no holiday home is complete without a stunning Christmas tree and lots of beautifully wrapped presents beneath it, Gray reminds us that the true holiday home is never complete without friends and family. We couldn’t agree more!
