Space We Love: The Makerista’s Master Bedroom Makeover

TRADITIONAL WITH A TWIST

Why we
love it …

This master bedroom is everything you’d want in a space where you spend one-third of your life relaxing, recharging and, our favorite, sleeping. Bright light. Clean lines. A few unexpected pops of color and thoughtful personal touches. Plus, that bed

The story …

A self-proclaimed “jane of all trades,” our friend Gwen Hefner of The Makerista never fails to turn heads with her fresh take on traditional style and DIY-savviness. When it came to remodeling her master suite, Gwen wanted a space that felt grown up, but also clean and bright. “The Regency Bow Front Chests stopped me in my tracks,” she says. “I knew I had to build the room around them. They’re so special and have loads of storage.”

“It really does make such a difference in how you feel – to wake up or lay your head down in a space you love.”

Using the chests as a focal point for the room, Gwen brought in carefully curated prints and objects d’art, and even put her DIY skills to the test with a reclaimed chandelier she rescued from her husband’s work site.

We love the color the classic oriental rug brings to the room, especially juxtaposed with the clean lines of the Lyell Channel Quilt Upholstered Bed. “I wanted the nightstands to be the stars of the room, so the bed with its subtle channel tufting is beautiful without being distracting.”

Gwen’s goal was to create a retreat to help her husband and her relax and start each day on the right foot. “It really does make such a difference in how you feel – to wake up or lay your head down in a space you love,” she says. We couldn’t agree more!
