Space We Love: Palm Beach Lately’s Small Patio Paradise

When Beth, one of the sisters behind tastemaker lifestyle blog Palm Beach Lately, decided to revamp her little-used patio, we couldn’t wait to see it. She and her sister Danielle consistently create cheerful spaces in their homes, and we knew this makeover wouldn’t be any different. Here’s how she turned the breezy outdoor area into a comfortable space to entertain the whole family.

Beth’s biggest tip to decorating a small outdoor space? Don’t hold back on accessories; just exercise restraint in the ones you choose to bring in. “Small spaces are great because you can make them cozy”, she says. Add curtains, plants and flowers to make a cute and functional space.” Our favorite takeaway from the design is Beth’s use of curtains to define the space. (If your space won’t accommodate curtains, a weather-resistant outdoor rug can achieve a similar effect.)

Despite the space’s small size (it measures 9 ft. x 9½ ft.), they’ve optimized it to host various family activities. “We use our back patio so much more now. We eat dinner out there, watch the kids play, read books and enjoy the outdoors more,”  Beth says. The space is built around our modular Vista Collection, roomy all-weather wicker seating that’s easy for the little ones to climb on (and easily cleaned of accidental spills). The spacious seating is what drew Beth in – and the collection’s ability to withstand Florida sun sealed the deal.
